When I was a child my grandfather, a great storyteller, would tell me about his family. Over 70 years later he would talk about what he remembered of his elder brother from their childhood and their loss of him during the Great War. He spoke often of the terrible impact Tom's death had on their mother who never recovered from losing her eldest son and daughter during World War One and how this loss had affected his childhood.
It is on behalf of my grandfather, Cecil Bradnock (1909-1994) that I have chosen to register this commemoration. For his stories, filled with the love, respect and admiration of a young boy for his eldest brother, who went to war and never returned.
