WILLIAM PERCY DREW

Service No. 1796, Rank of Private 1st/6th Battalion, Devonshire Regiment A Company. Died at Es Sin, Mesopotamia (modern day Iraq) on 8th March 1916 in the Great War (WW1).. He is believed to have lied about his age to jion the Army - He enlisted in Okehampton, Devon.

Received three medals: War Medal 1914-1918, Victory Medal and T.A. Medal for volunteers for overseas. 19 Officers and 300 Men were killed in action or wounded on Ash Wednesday. Memorial at Basra in Iraq and Barnstaple Guildhall, Roll of Honour.
