Charles Sipson attested with the Northumberland Fusiliers at the age of 16 and saw service in Dublin and then Mauritius. From here he was sent to Indian. He completed 8 years service. He left the army and went to work at Pleasley Colliery and after five years he re-enlisted at Mansfield on 7th September 1914 with the 1/8th Battalion Sherwood Foresters.
At his death his wife Margaret Elsie and two daughters, Margaret Elsie and Constance were bereaved.
