The vicar misheard Ellis's name, and christened him Allice, so he was always fondly known by the family as 'Our Allie.'  His sister Agnes never forgot him. After the war ended she took her children, Thomas Ellis, Jack and Doris, to see the memorial in St Georges Hall in Liverpool. She also took Tom's daughters to the same memorial. My grandmother instilled in me a sense of the loss and the pride her generation had in thier fallen heroes, so here's to 'Our Allie.' May he rest in peace.
