James McNulty was 26 years old when he lost his life in Gallipoli, Turkey on 15th August 1915. My father was only 3 years old and had very little recollection of him. I have researched the events which led to the massacre of so many British soldiers in Turkey and I am proud that my grandfather fought for his country. It is, however, sad that my father's mother decided to uproot from her hometown and took my dad's sister to start a new life in England without her son. Consequently, my sisters and I never got to meet our grandmother or aunt when we were growing up. However, in later years, due to my choice to study history at the University of Ulster I began researching my family tree so although I have never seen a photograph of my grandfather, I do know a little about him. He was only 26 years of age when he lost his life so far away in Gallipoli - a brave man.
