William BLYTH was born in Dysart, Fife, Scotland as the eldest of the seven children of John BLYTH (1859-1922) and Agnes 'Christina' Brown LATTO (1863-1945).

The Blyth family emigrated to the Falkland Islands in April 1898 when William was 11 years old.

William was a Private in the Falkland Islands Volunteers (later renamed as the Falkland Islands Defence Force, or FIDF), On the 1st December 1914, he and seven other  Volunteers soldiers were drowned whislt on Active Service during a training exercise on  the "Canache", when their boat capsized. A week later, on th 8th December 1914 the Germans (led by Admiral von Spee) were spotted near the Islands and the "Battle  of the Falklands" ensued with a British victory..

William was married and left  a widw Nellie  and a  young son , John..

He was beloved and  survived by his parents John & Christina and his siblings, Alec, Agnes, Jack, Ann Jim & Fred.
