Edward Lloyd and his brother Walter joined up together on 25th September 1914. They had consecutive service numbers 7573 & 7572. Both began service in the RWF. Both were in their thirties. Edward was unmarried. Walter was married with, then, five children. They embarked for France on 5th November 1914. Edward received '7 days field punishment' for being drunk on parade in 1915. Edward died on 9th August 1915. He has no known grave and is remembered on the Le Touret Memorial, Pas de Calais. Walter survived and was transferred to the Labour Corp. He returned home to Denbigh, to his wife Margaret and his by then seven children. Another child was born in 1919 and a final one (my mother) in 1924. Walter was never a well man again, although he lived until 1957 aged 76. Walter was my grandfather (Taid in Welsh). Antony Jones
