This gentleman was the Adjutant of the Royal Military College Sandhurst (in the rank of Captain) when he was called to the front as a replacement for the Adjutant of the Irish Guards in Sept 1914. The high volume of casualties meant that he went from Capt to Brigadier in less than a year.

On the 24 Oct 1915, whilst taking his replacement round the trenches, Brig Trefusis was shot in the forehead by a sniper,he died almost immediately.

Brigadier Trefusis is buried in the Guards' Cemetery at Windy Hill.
