Stanley was my great uncle. From what I have been able to find oot about him, he was slight in build and a quiet unassuming young man. He worked as a clerk in Liverpool. He enlisted in 1914 aged 25.While training at Larkhill Liverpool on the 6/10/15 Stanley was confined to barracks for firing at the wrong target! On the 19/07/16 he was admitted by field ambulance to 13 corps rest station with rhematism. He returned to duty on the 22/07 and was killed on the 30/07 with number 2 company on the Somme. There is no grave so is mentioned on Theipal memeorial.  He was an ordinary, quiet young man who went to do his duty and faced unimaginable horror. How sad that there is no grave for this brave young man.
