James William Monk was born in 1882 in Wandsworth, the oldest child of Charles J (b.1861) a Lamp Lighter, Gas and Sarah C (b.1860)
His siblings were, Earnest W b.1887 and Lilian B b.1899, details from the 1901 Census, however there could be more children due to the date range. They lived at 6 Daisy Cottages, Longfellow Rd, Worcester Park.
The 1911 Census confirmed that James was a Stationary Engine Driver Sewage W W Epsom Rural District Council
He married Emily Elizabeth Johnson in 1909, they had one child, Ivy Maud b.1910.
James’s name appears on the War Memorial in Worcester Park and this entry has been completed on behalf of The Royal British Legion Worcester Park Branch.
