Francis as born and raised in Dolgellau, Merionethshire.
Very little is known of his life other than he was the son of the late Francis Morris, a postman in the town.
He was married and on his death he left a widow and four small children.
Francis had enlisted in the 8th Battalion, Northumberland Fusiliers and in 1918 he was in the Somme region. Nothing is known of the circumstances of his death other than he was wounded on 7 October and that he died of those wounds two days later. It is possible that he was wounded in the attacks on the Hindenberg Line.
He is buried in Etaples Military Cemetery. He is commemorated on the War Memorial in Dolgellau.
We will remember him.
