Perhaps

Perhaps one day I will see

The clear blue sky smiling back at me

But right now the only thing I see

Is the ash and smock infecting that smile.

Perhaps one day I will have a restful night

Because I’m sleeping like a cat with you

But right now the nights are cursed

By the grief of friend dying.

Perhaps one day the guns will

And fall silent

But four years will pass until that day

comes.

War is a heart with no blood left to pump

But I look to you for strength

And so that is what you do

So I can be home with you.

 Perhaps…
