Perhaps

Perhaps one day I will see

The clear blue sky smiling back at me

But right now all I see is the dark grey sky laughing at me.

Perhaps one day I will hear

The sound of birds singing

But right now the sound of bullets being sprayed at the foe

Are like giants footsteps.

Perhaps I will taste the delicious roast dinner

 Prepared by loving mother

But right now the rumbling of the starving

Matches the rumble of the guns.

War is no-mans’ land because no-man is left standing

But I look to you my mother for the strength to make it through

And one day I hope I will be back home celebrating with you.
