Private Alfred Stringer, of the 8th Service Battalion #13775 of the South Staffordshire Regiment, was just 31 years old when he was killed on the battlefield on July 2, 1917. Sorely missed by his parents and 7 siblings and 3 half-siblings (4 of whom also served) of Birmingham. He was buried in a military cemetary just outside of St. Laurent-Blangy, France.
