WELL-KNOWN LOCHEE MEN FALL IN ACTION.
Two well-known Lochee soldiers have been killed in action.
Corporal-Piper Charles Macdonald, Black Watch, whose wife and family of four reside at 8 Marybank Lane, Lochee, was killed by a shell on 30th October. Deceased as a Volunteer saw service in the Boer War, and joined up on 10th November, 1914. He was drafted to France in September last. He was 45 years of age, and in civil life was employed in the batching department of Camperdown Jute Works, Lochee.
Private Joseph M'Cann, Royal Scots, who was killed on 12th October last, enlisted fifteen months ago, and had been in France for a period of eleven months. Deceased, who was 37 years of age, was an organ builder and piano repairer in the employment of Mr Forbes, King Street, Dundee, and leaves a widow and three sons, who reside at 25 Campbell Street, Lochee. His brother Edward M'Cann, of the Connaught Rangers, was killed about twelve months ago, while other two are still serving.
