We visited Etaples Military Cemetery in France in July 2014. On entering, I was overwhelmed by the sheer enormity of it all. It was hard to take in, looking down over thousands of graves. Having a plan to follow, we found Leonard's grave easily. On this beautiful summer morning, at 8am, we placed a wooden remembrance cross at the foot of the grave. My father, Leonard's nephew, had written some words on the back - to an uncle he had heard much about, but had never met. It was a deeply moving experience for all of us, one which I will never forget. I am glad to have finally paid my respects to both Leonard and also to Percy, his brother, who is also buried here. Your final resting places are in a beautiful, peaceful place.
