Private Henry Cowe, Regimental No, M2-079419 A.S.C. Motor Transport Division Died in France on 30 June 1918 of pneumonia at the Casualty Clearance Station, following wounds received whilst in action. Awarded The 1914-1918 War Medal, The !914-15 Star and the Victory Medal. Henry was the sixth child of eight. His youngest brother John Cowe ISM was my grandfather and spoke often of his beloved brother who he missed terribly. He joined the army in April 1915 and served throughout the war till he died just months before the war ended. My grandfather subsequently joined the army as a career soldier serving for 19 years in the Royal Corps of Signals. He always credited his brother with inspiring him to a life of service to his country.
