James Skeffington, The Kings (Liverpool Regiment) 1st Battalion, service no. 9604. Died 19th May 1915 during the battle for Festuberg, a French village in Flanders, on the Western Front. The battle started on 15th May and finished on 25th May, with the 'Kings' successfully securing the village, with the gain of 1 kilometre for the loss of 16,000 allied soldiers. The fallen, including James have a War Memorial at Le Touret in France. James was 24 and there is no known grave. The medals he had were: 1914/1915 Star Victory Medal and British War Medal. James was married to Catherine on 24th May 1914 and was survived by her and his daughter, Norah, who was born on 16th July 1915 and whom he never met.
