Harry, husband of Ellen Margaret Long (my Maternal Great-Grandmother). Fought in some of the major battles of the Great War, this includes Battle of Passchendaele (or the 3rd battle of Ypres - 31 Jul 1917 – 10 Nov 1917), 1st Battle of the Somme (battle of St. Quentin 21st March 1918), Actions at Somme Crossings (23rd March 1918), Battle of Rosiers (26th March 1918), Battle of Estaires (9th April 1918) and the Battle of Hazebrouck (12th April 1918), Harry was wounded at Hazebrouck and died of his wounds on the 14th April 1918
Harry left behind Ellen and 6 children (my grandmother Evelyn, Born 1914, being the youngest ). He was awarded the Victory Medal and The British War Medal (he enlisted in 1915 so only has the 2).
My family wish to say Thank you to the Royal British Legion for allowing us to commemorate Harry in this way.
