Arthur Chapman served first in the Dardanelles in 1915. He lost his finger in battle and was shot through the thigh on the way to the field hospital. Having convalesced at home and over the Christmas of 1915, he was later sent to the Somme. He survived the dreadful first day of the Battle of the Somme and in August 1916 received shrapnel wounds to his neck. Treated at the field hospital, he returned to the trenches and was ****ed in action on 9th October 1916. Husband to Kate (née Curtis) and father to three surviving children. Always remembered, never forgotten.
