James J. Trevor, was born 17 Apr 1897 in Salford, Lancashire to Annie Trevor.  As a child, he grew up living with his mother, aunts and maternal grandparents in Reddish.  He attended North Reddish Council Schools and was practicing trade as a Fitter's Apprentice when the war broke out.  He enlisted 25 Aug 1914 and was made a Private in the Machine Gun Section of The Prince of Wales's Volunteers (South Lancashire Regiment).  While serving with the Indian Expeditionary Force in Mesopotamia (modern day Iraq), he was killed in action on 22 April 1916, just after his 19th birthday, and was "buried where he fell."  He is commemorated at both the Basra Memorial and on a family grave (for his maternal grandparents) in Willow Grove Cemetery in Stockport.
