When Charles Christopher Markall was born in July 1890 in Prestwich, Lancashire, his father, Charles, was 28 and his mother, Amelia, was 26. He married Leah Cornforth in July 1915 in Manchester, Lancashire. He served as Private (94448), 13th Bn., The King's (Liverpool Regiment) in Belgium and died on 10 April 1918 in Ploegsteert, Hainaut, Belgium, at the age of 27, and was buried in Warneton, Hainaut, Belgium. He is commemorated on the Ploegsteert War Memorial.
