He died of wounds on the 16 October 1917, aged 31 years, and he is buried in Nine Elms British Cemetery, West-Vlaanderen, Belgium.
Henry Frederick Wilde was born at Dukinfield, Cheshire, in 1886 to Herbert Wilde and Betty Rawcliffe Swallow who were married at the New St George’s Church, Stalybridge, in 1874. In 1911 he was resident with his parents and siblings on Tatton Street, Stalybridge, employed as a cotton spinner. He married Hannah Elizabeth Chapman at St Paul’s Church, Staley, in 1914.
